New joerb
Start a new job (officially as a full-timer) next week. Interesting to be back under the permanent employ of a Corp again. Finally found a place that I like, nice to have that. Plus, garden gnomes! Collections Etc.
I’m thinking that maybe I don’t need titles anymore.
So I’ve been digging around in the garage lately (not a metaphor for anything, really) and I came across some old car stereo equipment that got me thinking. Why don’t I actually put this to some use? Why don’t I indeed. I’ve been driving around a lot lately, whether it’s to an office or a client meeting, I’ve taken command of my old faithful Corolla and have been really happy to do so, except for one thing. I had finally reached a point in my life when I got my Honda that I didn’t have an overwhelming need for an aftermarket car stereo, the one it had was sufficient. Car stereos have come a long way in 20 years, for example, they can actually drown out road noise at more than 30 miles per hour. Who’d have ever thought that was a good idea? Well, people who buy aftermarket car stereos. Sorry, rambling…
So here I am, face to face with a box of near perfect car audio equipment from some time ago and a ripe new automotive canvas. Sure, I was missing a few pieces due to either having sold them or things just getting old and worn out after sitting unused for 15 or so years. I’m happy to say that I’ve got everything I need to overcome road noise at this point, it’s just not actually in the car yet. Yeah, that’s kinda the important part I suppose. Better get to it.
I’ve also been trying to get back on the horse in regard to routines. I have a few online programming classes that I’ve slotted out Wednesday nights (rain or shine) to get started with. And if I can get my lazy ass to go back out running again, that’ll be another thing I can make some steady time for. Run Forrest, run!
Life, in general, is excellent right now. I hope the same for you.

Joining the Masses (at least temporarily)
Starting a two week gig on site at a local online retailer tomorrow. No big deal, mind numbing production work on email newsletters. I have to think that it’ll be good for me to get out of the house, but just wish the weather was going to be a little nicer. A friend reminded me yesterday that we’re stupid, as Chicagoans, to get excited about the few days around this time that it gets into the 60s and then act all surprised when it’s 15 degrees the following morning. Yep.
Also been very busy lately, signed on a couple new contracts for some fun work. I had a sizeable amount of work fall in my lap the previous week as well. Nice to be busy. Three of these upcoming projects have custom photography built into them by your truly. Finally putting that bit of the art degree to work for me. I love it when a plan comes together.
I’ve got it all backwards
There’s a few reasons I don’t post much on here lately, but I recently figured out the most important one: poor organization skills. Or poor follow through. Maybe both.
I get some great ideas for posts during the day, but lately when I sit down to recall them I just can’t. I suppose the idea wasn’t as fantastic as I thought it was and just let it go at that point because after about ten minutes of mindlessly clicking away I’ve completely zoned out.
In the end, it comes down to a post, much like this one, where I’m stating that I’ve got nothing to say. Which isn’t exactly the kind of thing that one needs to reiterate over and over but I’ve found that the simple act of continuing to write, even if it’s about not having anything to say, is good practice.
A random thought: Pickle Socks Herbert Green Banana Hamster.
In my head
If you were in my head right now, you’d be subject to the following things.
• An overabundance of thoughts on pastry.
• Stereo Total’s Paris-Berlin
• Me yelling at you for being in my head.
• This is not my dentist.
• A bunch of bullshit about computers.

For the record, there’s a cat sitting in front of my screen trying to catch the words being typed as I write this. I am not responsible for any errors in this post.
So, I’ve really no excuse for being absent, except for possibly the holiday season. I kinda mentally shut down the last two weeks of the year, mostly because it’s nearly impossible to get anything done with everyone on vacation and I just get caught up in the season. I go back to mine.
I’d mentioned before that there were somethings that I’ve been working on that I’m really caught up in, like Python development and Django and Plone. I’ll quite possibly be moving this site over to a Plone site in the near future, mostly just to mess around with the categorization structure it has, much nicer than WordPress. I’ve also got a client that I’ll be setting up a Plone site for and it’ll all fit together nicely.
There’s really nothing else new. No new coffee discoveries or new music to write about. This post might have been better titled: “Meh”. So, without rambling on about what things might happen, sometime, maybe … I’ll be sure to check in the next time with something more substantial. Cheers!
